Revelator Adds Three More Directors to Roster

We’re excited to announce the addition of three talented directors to the Revelator team: Miguel Alvarez, Evan Kaufmann, and Jake Eide. Each has extensive experience in the film and commercial worlds and will be bringing their own unique vision to the team. Check out the SHOOTonline announcement here to learn more about our new directors.

Miguel Alvarez is a filmmaker and cinematographer with over a decade of experience in both film and commercial realms. He has received awards from the Directors’ Guild of AmericaPanavision’s Emerging Filmmaker program, and the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts. Sundance and Cinefestival selected him as a Screenwriting Fellow for the 2013 Latino Screenwriting Project for his feature screenplay, La Perdida, and his short documentary, The Giant Still Sleeps, recently premiered on PBS and the Washington Post. “I’m very excited Matt and Chris have invited me to join the Revelator family,” Alvarez said. “I’ve been a friend and fan of theirs for awhile now and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join the team of talented people they’ve assembled. I’m looking forward to creating, collaborating, playing, and working with them!”

Evan Kaufmann is a talented director whose unique visual style and eye for storytelling have helped him create a diverse list of compelling narrative films, branded content, music videos and broadcast commercials. His work has been featured on MTV, VH1, and Rolling Stone, and his films have screened internationally. His latest short, The Choice, recently won top honors at both the Rochester and Cleveland Film Festivals. “Being able to connect with Matt and Chris at Revelator has been fantastic,” says Kaufmann. “It feels like we’re all on the same page creatively and they truly believe in my creative vision.”

Jake Eide is a director and graphic designer who specializes in visually compelling commercials, branded content and narrative films. He loves all things character, and leveraging his background in design, he uses line and color to create careful cinematic compositions. Before moving to Austin, Jake worked in New York City as a motion graphics designer for clients including FUSE, College Humor, Intel and Discovery Networks. His most recent short film, Pet World, premiered at LA Shorts Fest, and was programmed at Burbank International Film Festival, Richmond International Film Festival, and Twin Cities Film Festival. “I like that Matt and Chris started out as narrative filmmakers before expanding to the commercial world, and that they have an ongoing commitment to storytelling in their work,” says Eide. “That is one of the main reasons why I wanted to join Revelator. Plus, they are known for producing high quality work and are very well respected in the production world. I’m honored to be part of their team of filmmakers.”

Chris Ohlson, our head of production here at Revelator, said he’s excited to expand the company’s roster of directors. “I think all three of our new directors bring a diverse perspective and unique creative approach to each of their projects,” Ohlson said. “Miguel, Evan and Jake are first and foremost story-tellers, and that’s the number one priority for our shop.”

We can’t overstate how happy we are to add these three talented filmmakers to our family, and look forward to exciting new work from them in the new year.  Check back soon for more info about the growing Revelator family!
