Deepak Chetty is a Director and VFX/VR Specialist at Revelator. His internationally award winning 3D sci-fi thriller, HARD RESET, is available on most VOD platforms including iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.  HARD RESET is also the winner of “Best Live Action 3D Short” by the Advanced Imaging Society, along with films like STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS and THE MARTIAN. Deepak is also a Lecturer in the UT3D program at the University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches the Intro to Immersive Media Class, which opens up a whole new world of media possibilities to the next generation of content creators…which, ya know, he thinks is kind of important.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, he left behind the plains for the concrete jungle  to do his undergraduate studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. There he studied film and various other art forms, most of which you do with your hands. He regrets not taking more Art History courses because now, as a responsible adult he realizes how much he loves it. Upon graduating he worked heavily in the fields of visual effects and motion graphics, with other stints as a freelance camera op and studio director in the tri-state area.  After a couple of years in the trenches he decided he’d like to be a storyteller again instead of just a technician so he applied to MFA programs across the country and chose the University of Texas. During his time at UT as an MFA student, he continued to work in the fields of VFX, while also cultivating an interest in advanced imaging such as stereoscopic 3D and VR.  His work as a cinematographer while at UT has been featured at SXSW, Slamdance, The Hampton’s International Film Festival among many others. At Revelator he has directed VFX heavy and VR work for companies such as Spredfast, USAA, Tenaris, and National Instruments.  He also spends a lot of time rendering.
