Deepak Chetty is a director, filmmaker, and immersive media specialist whose work bridges cinematic storytelling, visual effects, virtual reality, and emerging technology. With a background spanning narrative filmmaking, commercial production, and interactive experiences, he creates visually ambitious projects that combine technical innovation with strong storytelling foundations.

Deepak Chetty projects have included commercial, immersive, and branded experiences for clients such as The Washington Post, USAA, Tenaris, National Instruments, Uber, Reebok, Wendy’s, Stanford Medicine, and Spredfast. Whether directing a commercial campaign, designing a virtual experience, or overseeing complex visual effects workflows, he approaches technology as a tool for creating meaningful audience experiences.

His award-winning stereoscopic science-fiction thriller HARD RESET earned the Advanced Imaging Society Award for “Best Live Action 3D Short” alongside films including Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Martian. The film also received Best Director honors at ITVFest and is available on major VOD platforms worldwide. As a cinematographer, his work has screened at SXSW, Slamdance, the Hamptons International Film Festival, and numerous festivals around the world.

In addition to his directing work, Deepak has been a leading voice in immersive storytelling and virtual reality. He has collaborated on pioneering VR and 360° projects for organizations including The Washington Post, NPR, NBC, and the University of Texas. He currently teaches immersive media and emerging technologies at the University of Texas at Austin, helping shape the next generation of filmmakers and digital storytellers.
