Shelby Rahe and Josh Gondrez are an Austin-based director duo known for creating visually inventive work that blends playful storytelling, striking design, and unexpected moments of humanity. Drawing inspiration from fashion, music, contemporary art, and cinema, they direct commercials, music videos, short films, and branded content with a distinctive visual voice.
Their commercial work includes projects for clients such as Bose, Canva, Flume Water, FedEx and other forward-thinking brands. Whether crafting highly stylized imagery or performance-driven storytelling, Shelby and Josh bring a sense of curiosity, craft, and visual experimentation to every project. They are currently developing their debut feature film.
The pair met in a sculpture class at a Denver art school in 2016 and quickly began collaborating on films. Their shared creative sensibility has shaped a body of work that balances polished aesthetics with a playful, offbeat perspective.
Shelby holds a degree in Advertising from Boston University and previously worked at Rolling Stone, Teen Vogue, and W Magazine. Josh studied fine arts with an emphasis in video art and has exhibited work in galleries and artist-run spaces throughout Denver. Together, their multidisciplinary backgrounds inform a filmmaking approach that values design, performance, music, and visual storytelling in equal measure. Their work has screened internationally and was recognized with Best Music Video at the Santorini Film Festival.
