Noël Wells’ “Mr. Roosevelt” Premieres at SXSW
We are very excited to announce that Noël Wells’ Mr. Roosevelt will have its World Premiere at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival this March! Noël Wells, who you might recognize from Master of None, is making her debut as a writer/director at SWSW this year. Revelator worked alongside the team at Beachside Films and Sleepy Sheep, to bring the movie to life. Mr. Roosevelt is one of a select group of films chosen for the Narrative Spotlight section which highlights high profile narrative features receiving their World, North American, or U.S premieres.
After a death in her family, struggling LA-based comedian Emily Martin, played by Wells, returns to Austin. There she finds herself in the awkward position of staying with her ex and his new girlfriend, until the funeral, while trying to close old doors from her past. Co-starring Nick Thune, Britt Lower, Daniella Pineda, and Andre Hyland, the film was produced by Beachside Films’ Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub, and Revelator’s own Chris Ohlson. “I couldn’t be more excited to share this film, in Austin, with the wonderful audiences that inhabit SXSW. Austin is a character in the film, and so very much of the movie has to do with the city and place that Austin was — and is becoming. We’ve got a stellar cast and a great team, who will all be in town to share this movie with the world,” says Ohlson.
The film is written, directed and stars, Wells. Noël is an actor, writer and director from San Antonio, Texas. After graduating college, she joined a house sketch team at the Upright Citizens Brigade in LA where she was then cast as a featured player on “SNL.” She recently starred alongside Jessica Williams in “The Incredible Jessica James.”
The 2017 SXSW Film Festival will host nine days of screenings from March 10th through March 18th. It’ll be a busy SXSW 2017 for Revelator, with several exciting video production projects going on, which we’ll definitely share with you soon. We’re excited to see a few films as well, since the nine days of the festival, will screen 125 features, with additional titles still to be announced. The full lineup includes a whopping 84 World Premieres, 11 North American Premieres, and 6 US Premieres. Congrats again to the entire crew of Mr. Roosevelt, and we’ll see you at SXSW 2017!
