Deepak Chetty’s short film is focused on using motion capture to create more organic or “real” performances in animation. “Invention in Three Parts” is a motion capture of dance choreography by Dorothy O’Shea Overbey, based an original score by Nathan Felix. It’s “shot” in realtime as a render in Unreal Engine, making the “animation” an immediate and organic performance. The dancers are real, live-action performers wearing performance tracking suits, whose performances are transformed into creative and interruptive works of art.
