Revelator’s Ohlson Announced as Film Mentor for SXSW

We are very pleased to announce that Revelator’s Head of Production, Chris Ohlson, will be an official Film Production Mentor at the 2017 SXSW Festival. The South by Southwest Film Mentor Sessions, available to Film Badge and Platinum Badge holders, offer a unique opportunity to meet one-on-one with established filmmakers and industry leaders. In addition to overseeing all of Revelator’s SXSW live-event video production during the festival, Chris will notch a third time working as a film mentor.

With over a decade spent working in production, Ohlson will be bringing his many years of industry experience to the table, sharing his knowledge of producing in both the independent filmmaking and commercial worlds. Two of his recently produced films will be having high profile festival premieres in the coming months; DISCREET, directed by Travis Matthews, recently premiered at Berlinale, and Mr. Roosevelt, directed by Noël Wells, premieres right here at home for SXSW 2017 the same week! His other recently produced films include the Zellner brother’s Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter and Matt Muir’s Thank You A Lot.

“Mentoring at SXSW is a blast.  It’s a way to interact (and hopefully help!) up-and-coming filmmakers,” says Ohlson. “Making films is incredibly difficult… and I’ve done it by trial and error.  If I can take some of the things I’ve learned, and share them with other filmmakers, I feel like I’m helping our entire ecosystem as a whole.  Filmmaking and transparency don’t seem to go hand in hand, and I want to try and change that, little by little.”

Ohlson’s mentoring session will be on March 12th, 2017 from 12:30PM to 1:30PM. It is open to Film and Platinum Badge holders on a first come first serve basis. Advance sign ups open this month.
